• For your first workshop, get to know your tools with a variety of hands-on exercises. In this class, Sarah will teach you how different pens and inks behave, helping you navigate your tools with confidence. Practice making smooth lines, expressive marks, and imbuing personality into every stroke of your pen.

• In the afternoon, head to the coast for an inspiring Guided Nature Hike. Stroll on winding paths through fields of wildflowers and cacti while enjoying panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Learn about the local culture and environment from your knowledgable guide, take photos, and enjoy the warm sun and coastal breeze.

• In the evening, you will have some down time before helping yourself to a hearty dinner cooked in-house by our private chef.

• Start your morning right with a relaxing yoga session and head to breakfast feeling refreshed and inspired for the day’s activities.

• After breakfast, you will practice your line-drawing techniques in an engaging workshop. With a focus on observation, this class will help you translate real-world scenes onto paper.

• Return to O House for a hearty lunch, cooked in-house by our private chef.

• In the afternoon, transition from ink to watercolor in a fun and informative workshop. As you play with paint, you will learn how to find the perfect consistency, explore color mixing with the help of the color wheel, and bring ink sketches to life with color.

• Enjoy some unstructured free time after the workshop to rest and chat with your cohort, then regroup for a delicious dinner at O House.

• Stretch out and set an intention for the day in this morning’s wellness session. Then, fuel up with a tasty breakfast.

• Venture to Óbidos, a beautiful village filled with history, culture, and art. Amongst medieval walls and castles, winding cobblestone streets, and charming shops, practice the skills you have been developing with a plein air sketching workshop. Explore the village as you capture its beauty in ink and paint.

• Enjoy lunch in Óbidos, and then return to your sketches. Continue to stroll through the idyllic village, painting as you go. You also may want to pop into one of the many independent bookstores, sample the traditional ginja liquor, or walk the medieval wall that encircles the village. After a few more hours of painting and exploration, we will regroup and return to O House.

• Relax with your cohort as you treat yourself to a tasty dinner at O House. Enjoy well-deserved rest after a day packed with creation and discovery.

• Prepare yourself for the day ahead with a meditative wellness session. Wake up your body and mind, ground yourself in the present, and enjoy the beauty of gentle movement.

• After breakfast, dive into a workshop on architectural painting. With the help of a guided sketch-along and in-depth explanations from Sarah, you will unlock useful techniques to help you accurately depict brickwork, stone, and foliage.

• Take a break from painting with a delicious lunch at O House.

• After lunch, ease into an afternoon of unstructured free time. You may want to explore Ericeira, take a surf lesson, lounge at the pool, or hike along the coast. This time is yours to discover, relax, and enjoy the magic of Portugal. You will also treat yourself to a dinner in town, exploring Ericeira’s incredible culinary scene.

• Gather in downtown Ericeira at sunset to enjoy delicious local wine as the sun slips beneath the horizon. Revel in the colors that dance across the sky and sea and enjoy the company of newfound friends.

• Fuel up with breakfast, then begin the final workshop of the retreat. In this workshop, you may choose to refine your piece from Day 3, or begin an entirely new project. This is your time to let loose, experiment with newfound knowledge, and ask Sarah your burning ink and watercolor questions.

• Enjoy a satisfying lunch at O House prepared by our private chef.

• Celebrate your hard work and learning with a wine tasting at a local vineyard, where you will try delicious Portuguese wines and enjoy your newfound community.

• Gather back at O House for a celebratory dinner cooked by our private chef - a moment to share stories, memories, and gratitude.

• We’ll close the night with a calming sound bathing experience. Let serenity wash over you - the perfect way to close out a magical retreat.

Do I need to have previous painting experience?
Nope! This retreat is designed for all skill-levels.

What can I expect to learn from these workshops?
These workshops will cover a variety of foundational ink and watercolor techniques. You will learn how different pens, brushes, and inks behave, as well as how to develop confidence, precision, and expression in your line-drawing. You will also learn watercolor basics such as consistency, balance, color mixing, shadow, composition, and architectural painting techniques.

Do I need to bring my own materials?
Nope! We will provide complete painting kits with everything you need for the workshops. However, you are more than welcome to bring your own materials if you would like.

Do you offer airport transfer? Which airport should I fly into?
Yes! Airport transfers are included in the ticket price. You should fly into the Lisbon airport, which is only a 40 minute drive from O House.

What does a typical day look like?
Although each day looks different, there are some core themes and activities throughout each day of the retreat. Each day starts with an optional morning wellness session (a combination of yoga, breathwork, meditation, and sound bathing), allowing you to ease into the morning with movement, intention, and self care. We provide a continental breakfast each day, which is then followed by an art workshop or O House activity. We will then have lunch cooked in-house by our private chef, followed by another activity block, which will either be another workshop, activity, or free time. Finally, we wrap up with dinner and time together as a group.

How do I reserve my spot?
We handle all bookings over email. All you have to do is click on one of the “Book Now” buttons and follow the prompts to send your message. We’ll be in touch shortly to answer questions and get you all registered!

How does the Payment Plan work? Provided that you book your spot at least four months in advance, you may choose to take advantage of our payment plan. This plan spreads the payments into four installments, each being a 25% deposit. The first deposit is paid upon booking, the second is paid 120 before the retreat start date, the third 90 days before the retreat start date, and the final 45 days before the retreat start date.
