• For your first workshop, dive into Colorwork 101. Learn non-intimidating color theory and play with colors, finding the shades that speak to you. You will learn how to use the colors that bring you joy, and will walk away with a deep understanding of how you can use color in your work.

• Relax, chat, and enjoy a tasty lunch prepared in-house by our private chef.

• In the afternoon, return to the day’s exploration of color in a hands-on workshop. Danielle will teach fill techniques (such as color blending), helping you apply the theory you learned in the morning.

• In the evening, you will have some down time before helping yourself to a hearty dinner cooked in-house by our private chef.

• Start your morning right with a relaxing yoga session and head to breakfast feeling refreshed and inspired for the day’s activities.

• Dive back into embroidery with Musical Stitch: a fun exercise designed to expose you to a wide range of mediums that can be used in embroidery. Play with new thread types and materials, while also exploring abstract shapes and colors. This workshop is designed to get the creative juices flowing, helping you practice using different materials and find inspiration. You will also discuss how to take successful reference photos for future embroidery projects.

• After the morning’s workshop, we will head to the picturesque town of Sintra, where palaces dot the forested mountains. We will enjoy a tasty lunch in town, and then explore some of Sintra’s most iconic sites, taking photos and finding inspiration in every forest trail and ornate castle corridor.

• Return to O House and help yourself to a hearty dinner cooked in-house by our private chef.

• Stretch out and set an intention for the day in this morning’s wellness session. Then, fuel up with a tasty breakfast.

• Jump into the day with a walk amidst rejuvenating ocean breezes and vistas. During this Guided Nature Hike, you will explore Ericeira’s rugged coastline, soaking in views of the Atlantic and rolling hills. This is also your time to let inspiration wash over you - you might even find something that turns into your embroidery design.

• After lunch, you will dive into the design process. This is your time to explore your style and ideas as you piece together a pattern that is authentically you. You may find inspiration in your memories and photos of the retreat, or you might want to use a photo of your pet - the options are endless! Danielle will be with you every step of the way, providing advice and tips.

• After a busy day of exploration and creativity, help yourself to a hearty meal cooked in-house by our private chef.

• After the morning’s yoga session and breakfast, dive into an immersive workshop. Take all of the inspiration and hard work from the last few days and put it together as you start stitching. With each stitch, watch your vision come to life. Danielle will be available to answer questions, help with a tricky stitch, or just chat. This process is calm, meditative, and a great way to connect with new friends.

• Enjoy a tasty lunch in-house, and then ease into an afternoon of unstructured free time. You may want to explore Ericeira, take a surf lesson, lounge at the pool, or hike along the coast. This time is yours to discover, relax, and enjoy the magic of Portugal. You will also treat yourself to a dinner in town, exploring Ericeira’s incredible culinary scene.

• After an optional yoga class, dive back into your project. This is the last workshop of the retreat, and the culmination of so much learning, trial and error, and creativity. Continue to stitch your design, fine-tuning your technique as you go.

• Enjoy a satisfying lunch at O House prepared by our private chef.

• Celebrate the cumulation of the retreat with a wine tasting at a local vineyard, where you will try delicious Portuguese wines while enjoying your newfound community.

• Gather back at O House for a celebratory dinner cooked by our private chef - a moment to share stories, memories, and gratitude.

• We’ll close the night under the stars with a cozy bonfire - the perfect ending to an unforgettable journey.

Do I need to have previous embroidery experience?
This retreat is designed for intermediate embroiderers, so participants must be familiar with basic stitches.

What can I expect to learn from these workshops?
Danielle’s workshops are designed to get you comfortable with creating your own embroidery design. Using photos, moodboards, or memory, you will translate your vision onto thread and fabric. You will learn color theory, fill techniques, the ins and outs of the design process, and have the opportunity to pick Danielle’s brain for other embroidery tips and tricks.

Do I need to bring my own embroidery materials?
Nope! We will provide complete embroidery kits with everything you need for the workshops. However, you are more than welcome to bring your current project to work on during your down time.

Do you offer airport transfer? Which airport should I fly into?
Yes! Airport transfers are included in the ticket price. You should fly into the Lisbon airport, which is only a 40 minute drive from O House.

What does a typical day look like?
Although each day looks different, there are some core themes and activities throughout each day of the retreat. Each day starts with an optional morning wellness session (a combination of yoga, breathwork, meditation, and sound bathing), allowing you to ease into the morning with movement, intention, and self care. We provide a continental breakfast each day, which is then followed by a art workshop, O House activity, or free time. We will then have lunch cooked in-house by our private chef, followed by another activity block, which will either be another workshop, activity, or free time. Finally, we wrap up with dinner and time together as a group.
