If you’ve stayed at O House before, you’ve probably met Hill. Always smiling and looking for pets, Hill loves meeting guests and making new friends.
But what is Hill’s story?
He had a circuitous journey to Portugal. Originally from Texas, he was brought to New York by an organization that saves dogs from kill shelters and places them in states where kill shelters are illegal. It was in the Big Apple where Cliff and Lisa’s son adopted him, making Hill an official member of the family.
From New York, Hill made the journey across the Atlantic, finally arriving at his true home: Portugal. He instantly fell in love with the wide sandy beaches (complete with bounties of seagulls to chase). Since arriving in Ericeira, he has gone on beach walks almost every day, usually early in the morning when the beaches are most peaceful.
For guests and groups that like dogs, Hill is around to say hi and spend time with new people. He especially loves toys, and will likely show off some items in his impressive collection. Some of his favorites include the octopus, squirrel, and UPS driver. Usually, he’s not looking to play with these toys; he just likes to gently parade them around the room, making sure everyone can see how cool they are.
If you’re a dog fan, keep an eye out for Hill during your trip to Ericeira. He’ll be show off his newest toy, play a game of catch, and request belly rubs. And if you’re not too keen on dogs, no worries—Hill has his own quarters in the apartment, where he can keep out of sight and give you plenty of space.
Hill is an important member of the O House family, and he can’t wait to meet you!
