How Three Generations Found Home at O House

Here at O House, we strive to be more than a hotel. Weโ€™re a home, a place where you can come after a long day of adventuring and fully relax, be yourself, and find peace. Nothing makes us happier than seeing friends, family, and even strangers build connections and make a home for themselves, right here at O House.

Last August, we had the pleasure of hosting a large family gathering. Three generations from all around the United States came to Ericeira to celebrate a 70th birthday, and their stay truly encapsulated everything we love about O House.

Itโ€™s hard to get a whole family together. Over the years, people have spread out, started families of their own, and are caught up with busy jobs. When the stars align and loved ones can finally gather together, itโ€™s something special.

As folks began to arrive for the birthday bash, the joy was electric. Laughter filled the rooms as family members reconnected. To make it even more exciting, a new baby had arrived just a few months prior, and for some members of the family, this was the first time they had been able to meet her.

The family struck the perfect balance between programmed activities and free time. They went on adventures together: participating in surf lessons, heading into Nazarรฉ for the day, and experiencing our custom Caldas da Rainha ceramics tour.

But, they also spent quiet time at the hotel, whether it be lounging by the pool at sunset or sharing meals around the big table. They made the space their own by rearranging the common room to fit their needs, making space for the baby to play, painting the neighborhood from the pool deck, and whipping up delicious concoctions in the kitchen.

O House awaited them after every experience, promising a cozy place to recharge and regroup. One evening, they did a port tasting to cap off a long day. Another night saw live music in the courtyard. As the group adventured and built unforgettable memories, they left their mark on O House as well.

This sense of community is a precious thing, and every group that stays with us fills the hotel with more memories, love, and belonging. We are so grateful to be a part of these stories, and cannot wait to welcome more families and friend groups with open arms.
