Caldas da Rainha Ceramics
Caldas da Rainha is the hub of ceramics in Portugal, and for good reason. Explore the beautiful work from a variety of Caldas studios below!
Studio Cê
Tv. da Água Quente 9, 2500-259,
Caldas da Rainha, Portugal
Studio Cê is more than just a ceramic studio; it houses several artists across multiple disciplines, creating a vibrantly creative space. Whether you’re interested in glass bead art, jewelry, or ceramics—functional and artistic alike—there is something for you at this studio. Additionally, all of the glazes at Studio Cê are made from natural materials, creating rich and unique hues.
Gate Gato
R. de Cabo Verde 2f, 2500-173
Caldas da Rainha, Portugal
Gate Gato is comprised of two artists: a ceramicist and a mosaicist. The space is filled with light, completed pieces, and beautiful trinkets that act as constant inspiration to the artists and their students. Tina, the ceramicist, creates and paints azulejos (tiles), taking a traditional Portuguese art and putting her own spin on it. She also shapes incredibly lifelike sculptures of elements of the natural world, whether it be coral or an animal skull. The variety of work in this studio is impressive.
Margarida CeramicArt
R. Rafael Bordal Pinheiro 21, 2500-246
Caldas da Rainha, Portugal
Situated near the main square, but far enough tucked away for peace and quiet, Margarida CeramicArt is a small studio that is packed with beautiful artwork. Margarida plays with a variety of ceramic techniques, implementing hand building, wheel throwing, and raku, to name a few. She takes her inspiration from nature, creating rustic and harmonious pieces. Her love and attention to her craft is evident, and she also offers workshops for individuals who are interested in learning more about ceramics through hands-on experiences.
Studio Elsa
N360 55, 2500-770,
Portugal
Studio Elsa is located outside of the main city, in the shade of a lush lemon tree. This spacious studio houses a variety of hand built ceramics, and is an important community space as well due to the popular workshops that Elsa hosts. You can find colorful mugs, candlesticks, and Elsa’s signature hanging ceramic lemons, which are a great decoration to brighten any space.
